Empalme Olmos
The history of Empalme Olmos begins in 1890 when work began in the area to build the junction of the existing railway line called North Eastern Uruguay Railway (Railway to Minas since 1889), with a new line to the east (Maldonado and Rocha). which was called the Uruguay Great Eastern Railway (UGER). The fields located in the seventh judicial section of the department of Canelones, where these works were carried out, were donated by Octavio Olmos, so in gratitude to him, the place was renamed Empalme Olmos.
Empalme Olmos is a Uruguayan town in the department of Canelones. It is also the seat of the homonymous municipality. It is located in the south central area of the department of Canelones, on route 82 and close to route 8 at km 37.5.
